Fidelity Bank introduces a new app, Fidelity Token, to their mobile banking customers. It is meant to act as a second-factor authentication whenever a user opens their Fidelity online mobile banking app. It will validate transactions such as fund transfers, bills payment, and more. This aims to prevent fraud and stop customers from falling prey to SMS and email phishing scams.

Fidelity Token is free to download, however, there is a one-time payment requirement for first-time users of the app. On the bright side, subsequently reinstalling the app and reactivating your token if needed will be completely free of charge.

Validates online banking transactions

Fidelity Token is very easy to use. You just have to make sure that you’ve already activated your token via paying for the one-time activation fee if you’re using it for the first time. Once you’re done activating your token, you will need to login using your Fidelity mobile online banking credentials, and that’s it. You don’t have to do anything until it's time to make an online banking transaction. 

Every time you would make a fund transfer or pay your bills online, you would need an OTP aside from your actual pin. This OTP would come from this app. So, to confirm and complete the transaction, you would have to copy the OTP and paste it into the required field. Take note that there’s a time limit so you need to be fast.

It may seem to be a lot of work but it’s an added protection to ensure the validity of your transactions. By all means, this app is only a second-factor authenticator. You can still use your Fidelity online mobile banking app without it. It’s just that your OTP would be sent to your phone number instead. It's also worth mentioning that the app doesn’t work on newer device versions.
